April 6th-April 10th

Good morning, everyone. For our first lesson this week I am posting a short video that covers expansion and resistance from a European standpoint along with our new section (with questions for you to answer of course) and a short outline of the information for you to look over. For the focus question, please email your answer to that question back to me.

The Scramble for Africa video

Guys, this is a short video that covers the scramble for Africa. I will be posting my lecture video next week. As you watch this video, think about this question: How did imperialist European powers claim control over most of Africa by the end of the 1800s?

Chapter 12 Section 1 Lecture Video

Guys, I am attaching the lecture video for this first section. You should have read about this section yesterday. These videos will always go live Tuesday and Thursday at 9am on my youtube page. Please watch the video, take some notes, and answer the focus question. Lecture Video

Moving Forward.... Update

Good morning, everyone. I have just a slight update and as I find out more I will update further. I will be posting content for students to read every Monday and Wednesday. This content comes with questions included and students are expected to answer the questions as they read. I will also be posting lecture videos every Tuesday and Thursday and students are asked to watch the video, take notes, and answer the focus question. I am also going to try to set up a discussion board for students to utilize so that we can stay in touch and communicate about our lessons with each other. My virtual office hours are 9am-1pm and I will be answering any questions and responding to any messages during this time. Feel free to message me at any time and I will respond ASAP, but those are my official office hours. Stay safe everyone!

Moving Forward

Hi, guys! I hope everyone has had a wonderful spring break. As we start back this week, we are going to be talking about Imperialism. Last week I asked you to watch a Crash Course video (yes, I know, he is your favorite) and read a short excerpt about Imperialism. That was a very quick overview and now we are going to delve a little deeper into the situation developing in the world in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For this first section, I am attaching a word document that I would like for you to read and answer the questions (yes, the checkpoint and assessment questions). There are 7 questions total. If you have a question, make a note of it and send it to me. I am working on finding a few different ways to get information to you guys. Please check this page daily as I will be trying to post something new everyday! Again, if you have any questions, email me!

The Age of Imperialism

Please read this pdf as it covers our next chapter. I would also like for you to make an outline of this reading. That means look at every bold heading and summarize the key information in that section using bullet points. EX:

The Age of Imperialism:
- Imperialism: the domination by one country or people over another group of people.

Parents and Students,

This is all very new to all of us so please keep that in mind. That being said, there is still plenty we can do! I am posting a pdf for our next chapter (about 9 pages worth of reading). I am asking that you read this and watch the video I will be linking as well. Please check back periodically as I will be posting more as I find more resources to utilize. Imperialism Video
