Philosophy
The SHS Library Media Center staff members believe in every persons right to information.  We subscribe to the American Library Association's (ALA) commitment to intellectual freedom as spelled out in their Library Bill of Rights.
Our desire is that all members of the school and community become experts in accessing, evaluating and using information through a variety of new technologies and formats.
 
Mission Statement
The mission of the library media program at SHS is to ensure that students, parents, teachers, and community members are effective lifelong users of ideas and information. This will be accomplished by providing intellectual and physical instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing and using information and ideas, and collaborating with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
 
Program Goals
  • The library media program is essential to learning and teaching and must be fully integrated into the curriculum to promote students' achievement of learning goals.
