Teacher Bio Page
I am a 1984 graduate of Sweetwater High School and an honors graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan. I was the winner of the Harry Russell Caldwell Award for Best History Student at Wesleyan my senior year.
I served as a reporter and later editor and general manager of the local newspaper, The Advocate & Democrat, for almost 20 years before leaving to work as an assistant at Sweetwater High in APEX and Credit Recovery in 2019.
In 2024, I became a world history teacher at SHS.
My wife Marie and I have a daughter, Lauren, who is a graduate student in Lincoln Memorial University’s physical therapy doctoral program.
I lead SHS’s new Newspaper Club and in my spare time, I enjoy reading about weather and local history. I served as the chairman of the Sweetwater 150th Anniversary Celebration Planning Committee.
