April 6th-10th Post

Greetings SHS Students,

I hope you are doing well! We started this school year by creating a list of our goals for 2019-2020. With this pandemic, my goals are changing and that is ok! Instead of finishing the Boston Marathon in April, I'm adjusting that goal to being more active with my family. I encourage you to look at your goals and figure out which ones to shift and what goals you can add during this time. Creating goals can be extremely motivating and rewarding. You may want to have a goal to virtually visit your top 3 college choices or to do 20 push-ups without a break by the end of April.

I have a goal for all of my students to excel in my courses. If you have been behind this year, now is the perfect time to catch up. New learning opportunities are posted for this week. If you are just now logging in to our website, I have not deleted the previous activities. You can start at the first week and work your way through. This week I am especially excited to see what you create as your primary source after you read the article, The Quarantine Diaries.

SHS teachers are keeping virtual office hours Monday through Friday from 9-1 and are more than happy to help you with any plethora of issues you might have from school work to food services. If you are in need of food or essential services, a teacher can help you. Please reach out with any concerns or questions! I am here for you.

Best,

Extended Learning Opportunities for March 30th-April 3rd

Greetings Students,

I hope you enjoyed Spring Break! Check out your class page to see new activities for the upcoming week. US History classes will be looking at post World War II life in America. Dual Enrollment History is finishing up the Great Depression, and Psychology courses are studying different theories on Cognition and Intelligence. Next week, all classes will be creating primary sources to document this unusual time.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions over activities or anything related to SHS and/or our community. I can help you find information over food services, scholarship applications, recommendation letters, and more. Check out Monroe County Schools Facebook and Instagram accounts and Sweetwater High School's Facebook account to stay up to date on food pickup options and school announcements.

Your teachers are here for you if you need anything!

Best,

Jaclyn Cleveland

Student Letter

Greetings Students,

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time. I already miss seeing all of you in class! This is a strange time, but I hope you take advantage of it to read, reflect, and connect with family and friends while embracing social distancing. As we continue to study history and psychology, I hope we take the time to watch the news and draw connections from our topics of study to world events unfolding around us.

I will post activities and opportunities for extended learning and enrichment on this website. Just click on your course and then the unit to see the activities. Our class website (www.clevelandhistory.weebly.com), Khan Academy clips, and other useful online resources will be posted to each assignment with the correct url. I encourage you to continue your studies and projects online during this time.

My goal is to provide you with accessible extended learning opportunities to keep your education on pace. Please do not hesitate to contact me at clevelandj@monroe.k12.tn.us if you have any questions or concerns. I am here to help!

Best,

Jaclyn Cleveland
