School provided Breakfast & Lunches

We are committed to the well-being of the children in our community. With this in mind, we will be providing breakfast and lunch for our students beginning on Tuesday, March 17th through Friday, March 20th. Federal regulations will not allow us to serve food during our scheduled Spring Break. We will resume our community food service after Spring Break, if needed. Food will be served grab and go from Sweetwater Elementary, Sweetwater Junior High, and Brown Intermediate. We will be providing a bag breakfast from 9:00-10:50 and lunch from 11:00-1:00. Breakfast and lunch will be available for pick-up at one of these schools. In order to meet the needs of our students and families, we will also be launching a mobile meals program with delivery to the specific locations listed below. We encourage any child under the age of 18 in our community to take advantage of this program.

PLEASE NOTE- parents cannot pick up on the child’s behalf. Students must be present to collect meals.

For other areas outside of Sweetwater:

As our school district and communities go through a trial like we have never experienced, we know that our students and their families will face many challenges. In the coming weeks, while school is closed and many businesses and churches are forced to cancel services and activities, we encourage everyone to reach out if you need something. Likewise, we encourage those who have extra to share with people in need.
We will be offering free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18 to pick up (meals will be prepared to-go so no one will have to enter the schools to get fed) in each of our communities on each school day that schools are closed (this does not include the week of our scheduled Spring Break). Times and locations are listed below.

On Friday, March 20, 2020, we will have food bags to send home for the week of Spring Break from our regular weekend food bags for any families who come for the emergency feeding program.

In addition to the emergency feeding program, we want all families to know that there are multiple resources that will be available to provide meals. Any family may reach out to a teacher or administrator, our Director of Schools or any member of the district staff, or our Family Resource Center. Someone will work with you confidentially to make sure that you have what you need.

If we know nothing else about our Monroe County community, it is that when the going gets tough, we are tougher.
